📚 The Power of Education – Advocacy Meeting at Roma Versitas Albania office.

Today, at the offices of Roma Versitas Albania, a special advocacy meeting took place within the framework of the RARE project, funded by the European Union and implemented by the Roma Education Fund. During this event, we had the honor of welcoming the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Silda Anagnosti, who met with young Roma beneficiaries of the SEC and TER programs, listening closely to their success stories and the challenges they face in education.

The discussion highlighted several key advocacy points that lie at the heart of the Roma Versitas Albania mission:

🔹 Education for a Brighter Future: Expanding opportunities for Roma students to pursue higher education and improve their academic performance, equipping them with the skills needed to overcome the challenges of the labor market.

🔹 Employment as the Next Step: Creating pathways for Roma graduates to enter the labor market and secure positions in public administration and the private sector, empowering them to become strong voices in decision-making processes.

🔹 Participation and Advocacy for Change: Empowering young people to actively participate in society and advocate for better infrastructure and access to basic services for their communities.

Deputy Minister Anagnosti emphasized that investing in education is the foundation for building a just and equal society. Meanwhile, Klaudia Veizaj, Project Manager at RVA, shared her insights on the importance of mentorship and supporting Roma students in pursuing their academic dreams.

The meeting was also attended by Franko Veliu, Secretary General of RVA, who highlighted the importance of collaboration with public institutions to create policies that support young Roma in education and employment.

Today, at the office of Roma Versitas Albania (RVA), a meeting was held between RVA Secretary General, Mr. Franko Veliu, and two colleagues from Caritas Albania — Ms. Joana Luka, Program Manager, and Mr. Stefan Paloka, Advocacy Expert.

🤝 The purpose of the meeting was to present the ACTIVE 2 Project.
For several years now, Caritas Albania has been leading a regional initiative (ACTIVE project), with its main focus on the concept of accessible communication and easy-to-read language. Currently, the project is in its second phase.

One of the key activities under ACTIVE 2 is the establishment and functioning of the Advocacy Working Group.
Throughout the project’s implementation period, the Advocacy Working Group is expected to meet four times.

👥 Composition of the Advocacy Working Group: The group will consist of around 7 members, including representatives from national and/or local authorities, NGOs, organizations of persons with disabilities (OPAK), experts, and other relevant stakeholders engaged with accessibility and the rights of persons with disabilities or other vulnerable groups.

🎯 Main objectives of the Advocacy Working Group:

Strengthen the role of OPAK and CSOs in decision-making processes, by enabling their participation in the development of the legal framework through discussions, validation of knowledge and experience, and proposed initiatives;

Draft initiatives for the development of strategic documents and legal frameworks that regulate the need for implementing accessible communication.

📚 Additionally, another important activity planned is the translation of the easy-to-read language standards into Romani language, based on the Albanian version officially published on the Inclusion Europe website — a pioneering step toward broader accessibility.

These were the key points discussed during the meeting between Mr. Franko Veliu, Ms. Joana Luka, and Mr. Stefan Paloka.
We look forward to future collaboration and to jointly advancing accessibility and inclusion!

One of our dedicated students, Livia Koçi, currently pursuing her studies in Psychology at the Faculty of Social Sciences, recently delivered an inspiring presentation to fellow TER scholarship beneficiaries.
📚 Her topic – “Stress Management” – explored how stress affects both the mind and body, while also offering practical tools and strategies to better cope with everyday challenges.
🧠 Blending academic insight with personal experience, Livia’s session was a powerful example of empowerment through education and peer engagement.
💬 We are truly grateful to Livia for her valuable contribution and look forward to witnessing her continued growth on both a professional and personal level! 🌟
📌 The project “EU Regional Action for Roma Education: Increased Education Support and Opportunities for Roma Students in the Western Balkans and Turkey (RARE), phase II” is funded by the European Commission through the DG ENEST (Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood) and is implemented by REF Romania and REF Serbia.
