Secondary Education Project

In 2018, the Roma Education Fund (REF) started the implementation of the project “EU Regional Action for Roma Education: Increased education opportunities for Roma students in Western Balkans and Turkey”, funded by European Union. The second component of this project entitled “Increasing the Academic Performance and Employability of Roma Secondary School Students in Albania” is implemented in Albania by Roma Versitas Albania.

Project Goals

The main objective of the project is to increase the academic performance and employability of Roma secondary school students in Albania, by:

  • Increasing awareness among Roma families regarding the importance of education and improving the utilisation of secondary education services;
  • Maintaining the retention rate;
  • Maintaining and increasing the performance;
  • Providing a bridge between secondary and tertiary education, as well as between secondary education and the labour market;
  • Increasing the employability of Roma secondary students after the graduation.

COMPASS TRAINING: Cases on Multiple Discrimination

At the READ closing conference organized by The GOETHE Institute and regional partners. Roma Versitas Albania was awarded twice with cultural and literature/translation projects. The impact of the READ project was multifold. We translated two graphic novels in Romani language, Turkish and Macedonian, exchanged experiences with other NGOs in the region altogether we share same values and appreciate diversity and acceptance, we networked and lastly, we are hopeful to continue our contribution in these themes. Much appreciated to the organizers for hosting us.
