that will provide online mentoring sessions to support secondary and tertiary students beneficiaries of these projects, during the academic year 2024-2025.

Background
The project “EU Regional Action on Roma Education: Increasing Educational Support and Opportunities for Roma Students in the Western Balkans and Turkey (RARE), Phase II” builds on the achievements of its first phase, implemented by the Roma Education Fund (REF) from 2018 to 2021.
During the first phase, educational services delivered across seven project countries (Albania – ALB, Bosnia and Herzegovina – BIH, Kosovo – KOS, Montenegro – MNE, North Macedonia – MAC, Serbia – SER, and Turkey – TUR) successfully engaged over 4,500 Roma children and youth at all educational levels in various educational activities.
The current phase of the project seeks to sustain and expand upon the benefits and outcomes of the initial phase, while establishing a solid foundation for the continued inclusion and participation of Roma children and young people in education.
Objective
The purpose of mentoring is to address the academic needs of students by assisting them based on the mentor’s expertise and the students’ specific requirements to enhance their academic performance.
Mentors play a critical role in career and personal development, offering experienced guidance in the fields each student is studying. Mentors not only serve as valuable resources throughout the academic year but also provide opportunities for students to practice and develop interactive skills. Mentors both assist students and provide feedback, following a structured approach.
Responsibilities of a Mentor:
- Supporting students within the secondary and higher education system.
- Mentoring each beneficiary by generating online reports and providing updates to the project manager.
- Preparing supplementary lessons as needed for immediate academic interventions.
- Organizing at least one group mentoring session per month in cities with more than four beneficiaries.
- Preparing a summary report at the end of the mentoring period to document their commitment and activities as a mentor.
Conditions for application
- Applicants must hold a degree or certification from a relevant institution in a Scientific or Professional Master’s program.
- Must have at least three years of experience in teaching and/or participation in projects related to the Roma and Egyptian communities.
- Should possess a strong understanding of the secondary and higher education systems.
- Must be proficient in using Zoom and other online platforms, as mentoring will be conducted online.
- Being a member of the Roma or Egyptian community is considered an added advantage.
