Internship Scheme

The “Internship Scheme” project, supported by UNDP/EU’s “Economic and Social Empowerment for Roma and Egyptians- a booster for social inclusion” (ESERE)”, was implemented from November 2016 to April 2018. Its goal was to support the employment of graduate students from Roma and Egyptian minority in government and private businesses in the four major cities of Tirana, Durres, Shkodra and Berat.

36 Roma and Egyptian students and graduates were the project’s beneficiaries. They received support and cooperation from the Ministry of Social Welfare and Youth as well as other administrations like the National Employment Service, the Municipality of Berat, the Municipality of Durres, etc. They participated in professional practice for a year in government agencies, for-profit companies, and civil society organizations.

At the READ closing conference organized by The GOETHE Institute and regional partners. Roma Versitas Albania was awarded twice with cultural and literature/translation projects. The impact of the READ project was multifold. We translated two graphic novels in Romani language, Turkish and Macedonian, exchanged experiences with other NGOs in the region altogether we share same values and appreciate diversity and acceptance, we networked and lastly, we are hopeful to continue our contribution in these themes. Much appreciated to the organizers for hosting us.
